Punjab Assembly, in its 22nd session here on Wednesday would take up two bills, One seeking amendments in the Bank of Punjab Act and the other about the tendentious issue of registration of Madaris.
The Bank of Punjab amendment bill has already been cleared by the House Standing Committee on Finance. It will pave the way for upgrading the post of bank's head from Managing Director to Chairman and increasing its authorised capital from Rs 02 billion to Rs 10 billion. Under the constitution, the house has to meet 70 days in a parliamentary year, starting from November 25. It has 24 more days to complete the formal process.
However, in the wake of the devastating earthquake that rocked northern Punjab and other parts of the country, the session may end early.
