Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has sent two teams consisting of eight doctors and three nursing technicians along with medicine supplies to help victims of the catastrophic earthquake that has struck northern areas of Pakistan.
These expert trauma teams consist of general, orthopaedic and neurosurgeons, anaesthetists and an emergency medicine specialist, along with advanced medicines for surgery and fracture repair.
"We are ready to extend full support to the government in order to help those who have been injured or effected by this national disaster. If needed, AKUH is fully prepared to receive patients here in Karachi and provide necessary health care said Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, President of AKU.
On the day of the quake, October 8, the employees of AKU donated Rs 4 million to the President Fund for Earthquake Relief and since then have begun efforts to raise more funds.
AKU will also be collecting relief material such as tents, clothes and blankets for the affected families.-PR
