Punjab University chalks out Rs 120 million relief package

Punjab University would provide relief package worth Rs 120 million for 1000 quake hit families at its emergency camps at Balakot, Muzaffarabad, and Bagh/Rawalakot.
The vice chancellor Arshad Mahmood had constituted a purchase committee while chairing a meeting to finalise details of the items to be purchased in this regard on Tuesday. Academic Staff Association President Professor Dr Haris Rashid will head the committee. Dr Jamshed Ahmed Principal University College of Pharmacy, Chairperson Professor Dr Shahida Husnain Department of Botany, Resident Officer-I Dr Amin Athar, Resident Officer-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Additional Treasure Jamil Anjum, Deputy Registrar-II Khalid Khan, and Admin Officer Maqbool Ahmed, and Treasurer Abdul Sattar Raja will comprise the committee.
It was decided that luggage would include blankets, sweaters, male suits, female suits, shoes, soaps, surf sashes, lanterns, torches, towels, milk powder, matches, bread, medicines etc. A team of two senior medical officers had been sent there with an ambulance and medicines. The university had contributed Rs 2 million whereas the same amount had been collected from two-day salary of teaching departments and university employees. Besides, the university also issued relief fund tickets.
Meanwhile, a team has been sent to the affected areas under the leadership of Institute of Administrative Sciences Director Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal Jadoon.
The company has already given financial support of Rs 20 million, besides Rs 5 million in aid by its employees for the earthquake-hit victims.
