US cocoa futures prices settled narrowly mixed in quiet trading Tuesday, as top cocoa producer Ivory Coast set a farmgate price for newly harvested beans to be sold in the market, traders said.
The New York Board of Trade's active December cocoa contract settled flat at $1,356 a tonne, after trading from $1,351 to $1,372. March cocoa dipped $2 to $1,394, and back-month contracts finished down $2 to up $1.
Market players over the past week have been holding back from dealing in cocoa futures, weighing the prospect of a good supply of beans from Ivory Coast with political tension in the West African country.
