Swiss plane with relief goods arrives

Switzerland responding to the urgent need for relief goods following the earthquake by sending an aircraft with 40 tonnes of material to the disaster region.
Switzerland has further intensified its relief assistance and has sent a large quantities of medical material, 200 family tents, 1,500 kitchen sets, 7,000 blankets to Pakistan. The aircraft landed here on Wednesday.
The three Swiss partners, including SDC, the Department of Defence Civil Protection and Sports (DDPS), and the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) will ensure supplies among affectees.
Three Swiss logisticians (two members of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit and one DDPS staff member) are accompanying the goods.
The Swiss relief team which is already rescuing affectees will ensure a rapid distribution of the aid goods in co-operation with the local authorities.
