Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro on Wednesday appreciated the immediate response of the world community for extending financial and logistic support to Pakistan to meet this crisis.
He was talking to Muhtar Kent, group president and Ahmet C. Bozer, division president of Coca Cola, who called on him here.
They expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives due to Saturday's severe earthquake in different parts of the country.
Soomro informed them about the relief activities being carried out by the government and other organisations in quake-hit areas.
He also informed the Coca Cola group president that the Senate Relief Cell has already been set up, and has delivered several trucks containing food items, medicines, blankets, and other necessities of life.
He said Senate members have donated one-month salary as a token of solidarity with the earthquake victims.
Expressing sympathies with the people of Pakistan, Muhtar Kent said the Coca Cola company will donate clean drinking water and beverages to the Senate Relief Cell besides donating one million dollars each to the President's Relief Fund and the Red Cross for the victims of the earthquake.
Meanwhile, the Senate Relief Cell has dispatched several trucks of relief goods to various affected areas which were donated by philanthropists, social workers, and people from various walks of life, including Mohammedmian Soomro's mother Begum Saeeda Soomro, Nazim (elect) District Jaccobabad.
