US cocoa futures closed in negative territory Wednesday, depressed by speculators liquidating their long positions in an otherwise quiet trading session, market sources said.
The New York Board of Trade's active December cocoa contract dipped $7, or 0.5 percent, to settle at $1,349 a tonne, after trading within a narrow range from $1,347 to $1,358.
March cocoa eased $6 to end at $1,388, and deferred deliveries lost $5 to $7.
