US technology shares fell near five-month lows on Wednesday as Apple Computer Inc's financial results sparked concern about the outlook for corporate earnings and inflation worries resurfaced.
Even though Pfizer Inc, the world's largest drug company, helped offset some losses in the blue chip Dow average, Apple results from late Tuesday weighed on the technology sector.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 34 points, or 0.33 percent, at 10,219.39. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 6.48 points, or 0.55 percent, at 1,178.39. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 22.57 points, or 1.10 percent, at 2,038.52.
