Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that people belonging to all segments of the society are playing exemplary role in relief activities in the quake-hit areas.
Keeping aside their political affiliations, the people are busy in relief and rescue activities, he told a private television in an interview telecast on Thursday.
When asked to comment on NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani's participation in the National Security Council meeting, Shujaat said this is a positive development.
Had the leader of opposition in National Assembly Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman also attended the meeting it would have been much better, he added.
The PML chief endorsed the idea of legislation to ensure construction of building in line with seismic requirements.
He said such a catastrophe has occurred for the first time in history of the country so the means and methods should be explored to efficiently tackle the situation.
