TV journalists donate Rs 50,000

A delegation of Association of Television Journalists Pakistan (ATJP) called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and presented a cheque of Rs 50,000 for the President's Relief Fund.
A statement of the association here on Thursday said that the governor praised the spirit of television journalists and lauded the role of media towards the coverage of this natural calamity.
The governor said that the media brought before the masses the factual position and this prompted the people to come up with generous donations.
He said that the provincial government would utilise all resources for rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.
Meanwhile, the ATJP has appealed to all its members and other people associated with TV channels to play their role in collecting relief goods for the earthquake victims.
ATJP Convenor Amin Yousuf, Deputy Convenor S. M. Shakil, Faisal Aziz and Shabbir Ibn-e-Adil in a joint statement said that the country is facing a critical situation.
It is the responsibility of the journalists to contribute and make efforts to collect relief goods.
They said that many journalists and their families are also among the affected people, with some of them losing their lives. ATJP demanded of the government to speed up relief activity.-PR
