FCCI announces Rs 1 million for quake victims

Members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) have announced one million rupees for the earth quake victims in a meeting with the Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd), recently at Circuit House Faisalabad.
Talking to newsmen, Mian Muhammad Idrees, Outgoing President FCCI and Mian Javed Iqbal former President FCCI said that on Saturday the earthquake severely hit Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Hazara Division and other parts of the country leaving more than 40 thousand people dead and more than 100,000 displaced.
In this moment of shock and grief, both trade leaders have appealed the business community to contribute wholeheartedly in the efforts to rehabilitate quake-affected people.
Meanwhile, in a meeting of FCCI, an action committee was formed under the chairmanship of Abdul Qayyum to supervise all the relief operations of the Chamber.
Mian Muhammad Idrees pointed out that this donation is a token of solidarity to express our sympathy with the victims. At the request of Mian Javed Iqbal, members prayed for the deceased and expressed condolence with the grieved families.
Mian Muhammad Hanif, President, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) who is at present in Madina to perform religious activities, spoke on the phone and requested the affluent and kind-hearted persons to send their donations and other necessary articles to the chamber for onward delivery to the victims.
Finally Chamber's Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Zafar Mahmud (Retd) announced that Chamber's employees will donate their one-day salary towards the relief fund.
