Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro has inaugurated the first outlet of the largest Bangladesh company Beximco in Pakistan here on Tuesday. Beximco would set up a chain of stores in Pakistani cities. These stores, which are named "Yellow", will market high-quality fashion apparels and bone China ceramics, which are produced by the company.
Soomro, in his speech, welcomed the largest Bangladeshi company's investment in Pakistan and said the Pakistani government has provided a number of incentives to attract and facilitate foreign investors.
"Commitment by Beximco to invest in Pakistan is a prime example of the fact that these measures are encouraging foreign investors and improving their perception about the business environment in the country."
Beximco is the single largest company quoted on Dhaka Stock Exchange. It is also the largest supplier to leading fashion apparel brands like Zara, Van Huesen, Calvin Klein and DKNY.
It is also the largest supplier of Bone China to Royal Doulton of UK, Richard Ginori of Italy as well as British airways for their Business First Class passengers.
Speaking on the occasion, Beximco chief executive and group director Syed Naveed Hussain said his company is one of the South Asia's largest business conglomerates with its headquarter in Dhaka.
"Beximco's strategy in Pakistan is to open outlets across Pakistan and to bring its international brands of men and women's wear to its Pakistani customers," he added.
He informed his company has been at the forefront in ensuring best quality of its products to its customers.
While expressing his grief and sympathy over the loss of thousands of precious lives in the earthquake that struck Northern parts of Pakistan, he announced that Beximco would donate Rs 20 million worth of clothing and medicines for the earthquake victims. Talking about Beximco's future investment in Pakistan, he said the company plans to expand its business in Pakistan and that two "Yellow" outlets would be opened in Karachi, two in Lahore and one in Islamabad.
Beximco sees a bright future in Pakistan and looks toward making heavy investment in the country both in its retail division as well as in industry.
Giving a brief on Beximco, he said, "Yellow" has several outlets in Dhaka as well as recently opened outlets in Korea. Beximco is planning to open over 340 "Yellow" outlets in Europe in close association with a major UK retailer and a high-level Italian brand.
Beximco has 30,000 employees, 2600 highly qualified professionals from 14 nationalities including 9 PhDs. Beximco is one of the only Bangladeshi company to be listed in the UK AIMS Stock Exchange. Its core business include pharmaceuticals, textiles. ceramics, real estate, retail, IT, communication and publishing.
