Government College University (GCU) Lahore's Debating Team beat Aitchison College Lahore at the finals of the 9th Annual All Pakistan Inter-Collegiate Parliamentary Style Debating Championship hosted by the Lahore Grammar School Defence campus.
The motion under discussion was: "Arabs are responsible for not solving the Palestine issue." The members of the victorious GCU Oratory team were Syed Hassan Belal Zaidi, Ms Soufia Siddiqi, Omer Altaf, Waqas Abbasi and Uzair Ghuman. The content and style of the GCU squad was highly appreciated by the adjudicators. Mrs Nuzhat Saleem, a seasoned adjudicator in the Lahore debating circuit, gave away prizes to the winning team.
Meanwhile, the debating society, GC University Lahore arranged an interactive seminar in which Syed Fazl-e-Hassan Urfi Hashmi and Muhammad Saddique Awan spoke on Urdu and English declamations, respectively. Urfi Hashmi explained the rudimentary aspects of the preparation and delivery of oration in Pakistan.
