Australian Lleyton Hewitt has secured his berth in the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, the 4.45 million-dollar circuit finale, the ATP said on Friday.
Five of the eight spots for singles for the event have now been confirmed, with Hewitt joining Swiss world No 1 Roger Federer, Spain's Rafael Nadal, American Andy Roddick and Russian Marat Safin in the field.
Hewitt boasts a 37-9 record in 2005, winning the title in Sydney while reaching the finals at the Australian Open and the Pacific Life Open, the ATP Masters Series in Indian Wells.
The 24-year-old Australian has lost to the eventual champion in each of the last seven Grand Slams that he has played. He missed two and a half months of this season due to foot and rib injuries.
