'PML providing relief purely on humanitarian grounds'

Former Prime Minister and President Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday said PML has been involved in the relief and rehabilitation work in the earthquake affected areas purely on humanitarian basis above all political affiliations.
Addressing a meeting of NGOs here at Punjab House, Chaudhry Shujaat said that rehabilitation and reconstruction of quake hit areas is a long and arduous journey but with the help of people of Pakistan and abroad Pakistan would be able to revive normal life in these areas. The PML President said the destruction caused by the earthquake was unimaginable as it was beyond all expectations.
He said Pakistan Army with the help of NGOs from Pakistan and abroad started one of the biggest ever rescue, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the history of the country to help the victims.
Appreciating the contribution of the NGOs in this hour of trail, Chaudhry Shujaat said, their contribution in the relief operation was unprecedented as there was tremendous response from all over the country and even from many friendly countries.
He said the PML has been doing the relief work keeping in view as serving the humanity as it's the duty of every one to help, their brothers affected from the earthquake.
Chaudhry Shujaat said the rehabilitation and reconstruction work had to be expedited without any political prejudices and affiliations.
He said there would be no shortage of funds in the rehabilitation and reconstruction work as its a noble cause.
The PML President said although for the time being the affected people would be shifted to the tent villages, but they had to be settled in their homes after their repair.
Secretary General PML Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed speaking on the occasion said rehabilitation and reconstruction is a long process, but all the NGOs should join hands and extend full help and support to the government to complete it as early as possible.
