24 Oct, 2005

Former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan on Sunday termed President Pervez Musharraf's proposal to India for allowing Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) to help each other in relief and reconstruction efforts as a positive step.
Talking with PTV, he said, "Pakistan's proposals are very good as it will help to decrease tension between the two countries."
He said, "I always desired that Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control should be allowed to meet each other."
Qayyum called upon both the countries to implement these proposals as soon as possible.
He suggested that every Kashmiri should be allowed to cross LoC after a simple identification.
Replying to a question he said that relief operation in the earthquake-hit areas was in full swing.
However, he said co-ordinated efforts should be made to reach the affected people.
Presently, tents and blankets are direly needed as winter was approaching, he added.
