UNAP invites Unisame to discuss SMEs role in rebuilding

The United Nations Association of Pakistan (UNAP) invited the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) to discuss the Role of SMEs in the Rebuilding of affected areas.
Iqbal Chisti President UNAP said the first President of UNAP was Begum Liaquat Ali Khan in 1948. He said UNAP is permanent member of World Federation of United Nations Association. He welcomed Unisame committee members and said that UNAP is looking forward to having the Unisame team on its agenda for relief work to be carried out initially in District Manshera called Jabba which is completely destroyed.
He said in order to streamline and to expand the activity in a more professional manner he wanted an organisation to assist in rebuilding activities. He said UNAP wants to provide shelters like prefabricated houses, medicines, foodstuffs and other necessities and this could serve as a model. He said UNAP will monitor all expenses through a committee and is looking forward to present the whole scheme to the President General Pervez Musharraf.
Iqbal Chisti was assisted by Harold Daniel Resident Director, Ali A Reza Chairman Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Fauzia Tariq Executive Director and members of the secretariat.
Zulfikar Thaver President Unisame introduced his team namely Sikander Khan Expert on Energy, Javed Nasir Manufacturer of Prefabricated Houses, Colonel Adeel Kazi Convenor Organisation Committee, Asif Vohra Convenor IT Committee, Salman Bandukda Textiles Expert, Amin Bakali Crisis Management Committee, Abdul Aziz Ghaffar Convenor Relief Committee, Zafar Chaudhry, Masood Chaudhry and Farooq Chaudhry of the Planning Committee and Shahid Qurishi convenor co-ordination committee.
Thaver requested UNAP to arrange with international donor countries for leasing of Prefabricated Houses (PFH) on 25 years basis which is considered the life of a PFH and construction equipment on leasing to SME construction companies.-PR
