In occupied Kashmir, the General Secretary of CPI (M), Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has welcomed the suggestion of Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf regarding the reopening of the Line of Control (LoC) to facilitate Kashmiris on both sides to help each other following the recent earthquake.
According to Kashmir Media Service, while addressing a press conference in occupied Srinagar, he said, the move deserves to be welcomed, as a large number of divided families affected by the quake, require it desperately. It is hoped that India and Pakistan will evolve mutually agreed procedures to translate this move into action without any delay, he said.
The CPI (M) leader said that his party demands an easy and immediate passage to the divided Kashmiris through a credible mechanism and believes that facilitating the travel would lead to greater movement across the LoC for relief and reconstruction.
