The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has collected Rs 149.225 billion in the first quarter (July-September) of 2005-06 against the target of Rs 145.5 billion, showing an increase of Rs 3.725 billion. Updated figures compiled on Monday showed substantial increase in the revenue collection.
The CBR has paid refund and rebate of Rs 18.208 billion during the first three months of the current financial year.
Break-up-wise, direct taxes: Rs 45.355 billion against Rs 41.734 billion collected in the corresponding period of last fiscal; sales tax: Rs 62.985 billion against Rs 50.350 billion; federal excise: Rs 12.23 billion against Rs 11.23 billion; and customs duty: Rs 28.64 billion against Rs 22.395 billion.
The collection in September 2005 was Rs 69.70 billion after payment of refund/rebate of Rs 6 billion.
