CDGL proposes shifting of major markets

The city district government Lahore has proposed to the provincial government to shift major markets, including Akbari Mandi, from the city to help remove encroachments.
District Nazim Lahore, Mian Amer Mahmood talking to newsmen on Tuesday said the city government had planned to set up markets near Thokar Niaz Beg so that traffic load of trucks in the city could be checked.
The city district government has also planned to launch anti encroachment campaign.
Data Gunj Bakhsh Town Nazim Tariq Sana Bajwa was also present on the occasion.
Mian Amer further said the Supreme Court had imposed complete ban on manufacturing, sale and kite flying in the city for one month.
He endorsed the Supreme Court decision and said he would suggest complete ban even for 11 months except Basant festival. "The kite flying not only causes damage to the electronic appliances, Wapda installation but also takes lives of innocent people," he said.
To a question, he said that the name of district naib nazim candidate would be announced after the Election Commission gives schedule of the last phase of the local body elections. About his priorities, Amer said that he would continue previous policies on the basis of which the people of Lahore re-elected him as district nazim.
