Rs 1.78 billion new currency notes issued to banks

The State Bank of Pakistan on Tuesday issued new currency notes of record amount of rupees 1.78 billion to all commercial banks operating in various parts of the provincial metropolis to fulfil needs of their clients in-connection with Eid-ul-Fitr.
Currency Officer, SBP Lahore, Javed Ahmad Bhatti told APP that new currency notes of different denominations have been issued to commercial banks purely on merit in view of number of branches and volume of their banking business.
Chief Manager, SBP, Barbruce Ishaq has directed all commercial banks to distribute new currency notes to their clients in a transparent manner.
