Kasur despatches 200 trucks of relief goods

District government has so far despatched 200 truckloads of relief commodities for the quake affectees, while 30 more trucks will be sent within the next fortnight.
District Nazim Rana Muhammad Hayat, speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday to review relief efforts and donations, said the district administration was taking practical steps to help quake-affected brethren in their hour of need.
He said Baitul Maal officials would disburse cash gifts of Rs 1,200 each to 26,000 deserving persons in Kasur district at Eid, and added that amount would be given twice yearly to the deprived persons.
The Nazim warned sugar mill owners to make timely payments to sugarcane growers and warned that no exploitation in that regard would be tolerated at any level. He also directed them to increase purchase rate of sugarcane to provide fair profit to farmers.
He said cases would be registered against them in case of violation of the rules observed.
