Janoo Trust to send medical team to quake-hit areas

Haji Razzak Janoo Memorial Trust, On the instruction of Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro, will send an 11-member medical team to the earthquake-affected areas.
According to a press release here on Wednesday, the team, led by trust Chairman Abdul Rahim Janoo, would comprise four surgeons, two doctors, two para medics and two volunteers.
The team, equipped with mobile Operation Theater, would run OPD for those having eye problems and would give medicines and spectacles to needy patients, the release added.
The patients who would require minor surgeries would be operated on the spot while the patients with major eye problems would be flown to Janoo Trust Hospital in Karachi along with one attendant on the trust's expenses.
A two-member team of the trust led by Professor Dr Javed Sarwar has already returned after doing a three-day survey of the earthquake-affected areas of Balakot, Mansehra, Muzaffarabad and Chakar.
According to them, the situation was not very alarming as far as diseases are concerned, though some patients need immediate attention for the damage caused to their eyes by stone injuries. They said 2,000 to 2,200 patients needed immediate eye care in those areas.-PR
