A joint statement issued at the end of talks between President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif noted the constructive development of bilateral ties and called for their intensification, in the mutual interest of Belarus and Pakistan.
During the talks the two sides also stressed further development of the political dialogue between the two countries, strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations, trade and economic relations, besides expansion of legal framework for bilateral cooperation.
The President of Belarus appreciated Pakistan's adherence to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) Guidelines and Control Lists, commitment to non-proliferation, nuclear safety and security and Pakistan's ability to supply items on the NSG Control Lists.
Belarus emphasized the importance of a non- discriminatory approach to the issue of non-NPT states membership in the NSG that should lead to its settlement by consensus.
