'Tent villages to be converted into concrete structures'

President Genera] Pervez Musharraf has sanctioned an amount of Rs 20 million for Gowalmandi Girls College, Rawalpindi. Information minister Sheikh Rashid informed Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi during a meeting here on Sunday.
In a statement here, the information minister said issues relating to rehabilitation and relief work of earthquake victims were also deliberated upon during the meeting besides "Support a Family" programme launched by the Punjab chief minister,
The information minister also highlighted the participation of more than 100,000 overseas Pakistanis in extensive relief operation for quake victims.
Sheikh Rashid further informed the Punjab chief minister that President General Pervez Musharraf had also sanctioned a grant of Rs 20 million and a piece of land for the construction of Gowalmandi Girls college, Rawalpindi, foundation stone of which would be laid immediately after Eidul Fitr, the statement said.
It was also resolved during the meeting that tent villages were not a permanent solution and would soon be converted into concrete structures.
