Wapda purchasing meters

31 Oct, 2005

Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) is purchasing single and three-phase electricity meters of international standards. The meters are being purchased as per Wapda specifications and would be accepted only after proper inspection.
A spokesperson of Wapda said here Saturday that it was incorrect that Wapda had purchased faulty electricity meters. Recently an unscrupulous consumer managed to get a magnet of very high intensity and succeeded in theft of electricity by halting the meter.
"This comes in the purview of tempering of the meter, which can subsequently be detected. The consumer found involved in such an act is liable of imposing penalty according to the rules," the spokesperson added.
