Survey of quake-hit buildings ordered

District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood has directed Works and Services Department to conduct survey of the earthquake-affected school buildings of the city government and ascertain the loss caused by the October 8 natural calamity.
He passed these directions to EDO Works and Services Arif Chaudhry at a meeting of the city district government held here to review the performance of schools and discuss issues relating to repair and construction work of old buildings. The meeting was also attended among other officials of the concerned departments by DCO Lahore Khalid Sultan.
The District Nazim was informed that some school buildings had received minor cracks due to the earthquake, which need to be repaired immediately. Upon this, the District Nazim directed EDO Works and Service to prepare a detailed report on the damage after thorough survey of the affected buildings of schools and arrange repair of the same accordingly. He also directed the EDO Education to transfer all the headmasters to other districts whose performance was not up to the mark.
The issues relating to construction of new school buildings, new recruitment policy and possible steps for improvement of the quality and standard of education also came under discussion.
