Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to celebrate the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr with simplicity and austerity in view of October 8 devastating earthquake that killed more than 57,000 people in northern Pakistan.
Begum Memona Hashmi, MNA, ex-senator Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana, District President, Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan MNA, Nafees Ahmed Ansari, MPA, City President Rana Noor-ul-Hassan, ex-MPA, Moulvi Sultan Alam, General Secretary City said in a statement issued here on Tuesday said the decision has been made on the directives of the party chief and ex-premier Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said the amount, which was due to be spent on Eid celebrations would be provided to the earthquake victims of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
He said their party has been actively participating in rescue and relief activities of the quake victims and in this regard opened account in the Muslim Commercial Bank, Islamabad branch and urged people to submit their donations in account No-0613-01-3489-2 in any branch of MCB for providing necessary relief items to the earthquake victims.
They accused the government of doing nothing in practical for the quake victims that resulting in the killing of thousands of people even days after the catastrophe.
