Prices of chicken, meat, vegetables, fruits and other daily use items have witnessed sudden rise before Eid and the administration has failed to check the profiteering.
People thronged to markets to buy daily use items for Eid. Unprecedented rush of customers was seen at retail shops of general merchants, meat, chicken, beef, fruit, vegetable and sweet sellers. People were seen arguing with the shopkeepers for over charging.
A consumer said that the vegetable and fruit vendors were charging exorbitant prices from the customers, as there was no check by the competent authorities.
A general merchant told that small shopkeepers were not responsible for price hike, it was big dealers, who manipulated the prices of essential items in view of sudden surge in demand of different commodities of daily use.
