Argentine stocks rose on Wednesday, led by steel tube maker Tenaris on investor expectations of strong quarterly earnings, traders said.
The MerVal index of the leading 12 stocks jumped 1.07 percent to 1,638.95 points.
Trade in Tenaris, which soared 6.15 percent to 34.50 pesos, represented 40 percent of the 71.4 million ($23.9 million) total volume on the bourse.
"The MerVal reflected the jump in Tenaris, in which there was significant buying based on high expectations for its earnings report next week," said Horacio Corneille, head of the brokerage by the same name.
Tenaris is due to publish its third-quarter results on Tuesday.
Institutional investors bought heavily in the company's shares which were attractively priced after plummeting 17 percent in October, analysts said.
