Nazims asked to set priorities of their work

Punjab government on Thursday asked elected city district, and town nazims to identify their priorities before taking steps for resolving issues facing the masses and provision of basic facilities at grass roots level.
In a circular Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said all efforts by the government were aimed at improving the common man's standard of living and providing him all basic facilities of life in the province.
He said the government had planned installation of water filter plants at union council level in the country. He urged nazims to work for betterment of the people without any discrimination.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said: "Nazims are now representing their whole constituencies so they should strive for the betterment of entire areas in their jurisdiction." He expressed the hope that the elected representatives would ensure implementation of law and concerned rules and regulations in their respective areas.
