AIDS awareness drive in quake-hit areas

The health ministry has launched a publicity campaign under the National AIDS Control programme in which a special urgent appeal has been made to all doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff working in earthquake-affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP to adopt safe methods for blood transfusion.
These include use of a new syringe for every injection administered to any patient and to ensure that blood given to patients are free from HIV, and Hepatitis B and C.
