Two gangs of criminals smashed

Organised Crime Police Cantt. Division have smashed two gangs of criminals involved in a number of cases of dacoity and robbery and arrested their six members.
According to a Punjab Police's spokesman here on Saturday, the accused have confessed 20 such incidents in various parts of the provincial metropolis, during preliminary investigation. SSP Investigation Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmad directed SP Organised Crime Chaudhry Masood Aziz to take effective measures for curbing crime in Cantt. Division and two special teams headed by DSP Organised Crime Ameer Abdullah Niazi were constituted, which apprehended the gangsters of Saleem Odh Gang from Hanjerwal, on a tip off.
The accused were history-sheeters and around 16 cases have been traced against them at various police stations of the city. The felons also shot injured a teenager who offered resistance during a dacoity attempt in Sattukatla area.
The second team arrested three proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes and recovered cash and illegal weapons from their possession.
The police also seized a motorcycle, four mobile phones, four TVs, gold ornaments, Rs 150,000 in cash, a 9MM rifle, three pistols, one carbine and bullets from them. Those arrested were identified as Saleem, Nadeem alias Mithu, Shahbaz, Aamer Saleem alias Maqsood, Ilyas alias Ilyasa and Atta-ur-Rehman alias Atta.
