Donors moot to spotlight survivors needs

14 Nov, 2005

Donors conference being organised by the government will help create awareness among major donors regarding the needs of people, affected by the October 8 earthquake.
All participating donors could be informed properly through this conference about the devastation caused by the severe earthquake, said Amir Sohail, Incharge of Sahara Centre, a non governmental organisation (NGO) on Sunday.
He said that during the conference the donors could assess the damages in the quake-affected areas. He said though relief assistance was still coming from abroad and inside the country, but it was not enough to meet the needs of the victims.
He appealed to donors to contribute maximum for the relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims. He expressed the hope that donors would announce more aid for the rehabilitation of affected areas.
Appreciating the government's decision of arranging the conference, he expressed the hope that relief and reconstruction activities would accelerate with more assistance to be announced by major donors.
