Mini-buses ordered to follow prescribed colour scheme

15 Nov, 2005

Sindh Transport Department on Monday instructed mini-bus operators to abide by the prescribed colour scheme for their outer surface or face cancellation of route permits and fitness certificates.
According to prescribed colour scheme mini-buses should be yellow below windows and of white colour up to the rooftop. There should not be any other decorative element added to the body of the vehicle so that the colour scheme is not disturbed in any form. These orders are to be conform to within thirty days of its issuance.
The said colour scheme was prescribed at the time of introduction of mini buses in Karachi in 1970.
The Department has also taken notice of chamak patti, alteration in ladies compartment and playing of indecent songs and the owners have been asked to remove decorations, comply with ladies seating arrangement and remove cassette players. Strict checking would be taken up after the expiry of the allotted time. While, traffic police has been asked to be strict with those who defy these orders and deal with them strictly irrespective of the owners' political affiliation.
