15 Nov, 2005

Federal Minister for Commerce, Humayun Akhtar Khan met Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at Chief Minister's House here on Monday and discussed development projects as well as political and national issues.
Pervaiz said that only through unity in its ranks the Pakistan Muslim League could discharge its responsibility of public service in a proper manner. He said discipline was of key importance for any political party, therefore, all assembly members and party workers should maintain a close contact with the party leadership regarding their complaints.
He said the PML and other political parties should make concerted efforts for relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.
Humayun Akhtar said that efforts for creation of faction in the party tantamount to weakening the party. He said that PML had provided a strong structure at the federal, provincial and district government levels.
"We should make collective efforts from PML platform for further strengthening the political system. The elements trying to create cracks in the PML are rendering no service to the party", he said.
"There are differences in every political party and the best method for their resolution is maintenance of a close contact with the party leadership. Due to the earthquake the whole nation is passing through a critical phase and there is a dire need for focusing our attention on the relief and rehabilitation of the calamity-stricken people rather than indulging in other issues," he added.
