Trauma of tremor

16 Nov, 2005

The high intensity tremor of 6 minutes on 8/10 that rocked approximately 40,000 sq.km. of the Northern belt of Pakistan, not only caused colossal deaths and destruction but also shocked the entire nation.
Many towns and hamlets were reduced to rubbles. The list of injured and deaths is mounting day by the day. The task of rebuilding and rehabilitation of the survivors, emotionally, physically and economically are monumental and likely to be tough with heavy snowfall as per forecast in the next 4 weeks.
But, however daunting the task may be, with resolute commitment by one and all without political distractions it is achievable.
The CM of Punjab has given a clarion call to the philanthropists to adopt a family in distress. This noble gesture should also be extended to the other victims resulting from our evil practices and social degeneration.
