The ground-breaking ceremony of Rs 50 million pilot project to provide liquified petroleum gas (LPG) to people of Gwadar will be held next week. This was stated by the managing director Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Munawar Baseer Ahmad, while giving details of the project at the laying of 42-inch diameters natural gas pipeline project at Bin Qasim here on Tuesday.
He said that President Pervez Musharraf has given a deadline of December 31, 2005 to start supply of LPG to people in Gwadar and adjacent areas. "We will meet the deadline," he hoped. "In the first phase, we will provide 3 million cubic feet of LPG to 3000 households and further enhance the volume in the second and third phase," Baseer said.
He pointed out that currently Gwadar has a total number of 12,000 households and all of them will get LPG connection through pipeline. He said that SSGC would get LPG storage tanks and air mixer plants on lease. "We will store LPG in tanks and create a local distribution network to supply piped gas to customers in Gwadar."
