US Stocks: Tuesday's unofficial close

US stocks rose on Tuesday, led by gains in the Dow after Johnson & Johnson said it renegotiated a lower take-over price for medical device maker Guidant Corp.
Boeing Co also lifted the Dow average with the announcement of $5 billion in orders for its stretched and updated 747 jumbo jet, sending its shares up 1 percent to $66.88.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 37 points, or 0.35 percent, at 10,734.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.36 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,237.12. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 2.27 points, or 0.10 percent, at 2,203.22.
