Haqqie made EDB chairman

Waseem Haqqie has been appointed as Chairman Engineering Development Board on a two years contract, says a notification of the Establishment Division issued on Wednesday. The position had fallen vacant after Razak Dawood resigned from the post on November 10.
The appointment of Haqqie as chairman Board of Investment, extended on 11.8.2005, has been terminated with immediate effect and Minister of State for Privatisation and Investment Umar Ahmad Ghumman has succeeded him.
Haqqie is expected to add substantial quality and value to the EDB because of his hands on knowledge of the sector and experience in the field.
He turned BoI into a progressive and forward-looking institution and the organisation's website developed during his tenure is considered as one of the best government sites.
He has vast experience of the engineering sector specially that of automobile sector and has served several prestigious organisations in Pakistan and abroad, including Paco as chairman and Pak Suzuki as managing director.
Haqqie is popular among his colleagues, businessmen and friends and is respected for his uprightness, fairness and fair judgements.
