'Ministers taking Upper House proceedings lightly'

Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro on Thursday informed the House that he had written to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to ensure maximum presence of ministers during the question hour.
He stated this in response to the opposition's volley of objections to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan replying to questions pertaining to various ministries.
They complained that the ministers took proceedings of the Upper House of the Parliament lightly and always found it easy to assign parliamentary affairs minister to speak on their behalf. Leader of the House Senator Wasim Sajjad agreed with the Leader of the Opposition Senator Raza Rabbani that such an arrangement was acceptable in special cases, but it should not be made a tradition to skip the House.
