Israel plans new homes for World Bank settlement

Israel has issued new housing tenders for the biggest Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank, despite its obligation to freeze such construction under a US-backed "road map" to peace with the Palestinians.
A posting this week on the Web site of the government's Israel Lands Authority invited bids to develop 13 plots of land in Maale Adumim. It was not immediately clear if these would be used to erect single-family homes or apartment blocs.
