Implementation of reconstruction plan real task: Faisal

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Area, Faisal Saleh Hayat Tuesday said that the real task ahead was the implementation of the reconstruction plan in quake-affected areas which would start very soon.
He was talking to newsmen here at Relief Camp Hospital set up at Argentina Park by Attack Oil Company with co-ordination of the CDA. The Minister said that in the first phase of rehabilitation, focus was on infrastructure development that would help generate economic activities and the local people would get a lot of jobs there.
He said that the donor countries had been asked to provide steel, cement and non-perishable food items besides machinery for reconstruction process in quake-hit areas.
He said the government would review the damage assessment every three months so that there should be no shortfall of funds for reconstruction work in the affected areas.
The Minister said teams of Turkey, China and Nespak were conducting seismic survey of the affected areas and would submit their report to the government within next three weeks after which reconstruction work would be started.
The Minister said that Rs 270 million were being distributed among the affected people on daily basis and the amount would be increased to Rs 300 million.
In the second phase, houses for the affectees would be constructed according to the seismic survey report. He said normalcy had been returned in the affected areas, however it was a time consumable job.
