Relief activities in full swing

Pakistan Army, volunteers and foreign teams are actively engaged in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction in quake-hit areas of AJK and NWFP.
"Pakistan Army provided 5,232 shelters, 457,584 tents and 3,835,547 blankets to the quake hit people of Balakot, Bagh and Muzaffarabad while 2,442 shelters would be made ready in the next two days, said a report of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
ISPR spokesman said that some 10,371 tents have been pitched in various tent villages in affected areas of AJK and NWFP where more than 36,000 displaced people were residing. About Rs 7,344 million have been disbursed to 32,355 kith and kin of the deceased, 5,109 seriously injured and 159,528 owners of the damage houses in AJK and NWFP, he added.
He said that more than 40 medical teams of various countries and international NGOs were also engaged in providing medical relief to the affected people of the disaster hit areas.
As many as 17 hospitals have been established by the foreign medical teams in the various quake hit areas and total 77,766 seriously injured patients were evacuated from the affected areas to various military and civil hospitals in the twin cities and other parts of the country. 71,021 patients after necessary treatment has been evacuated from the hospitals while over 3,468 were still undergoing treatment for their injuries.
