Agriculture Extension told to achieve wheat sowing area target

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Food and Agriculture Murtuza Khan Jatoi has directed Sindh Agriculture Extension to achieve wheat sowing area target of 0.9 million hectares fixed by the government for the current cropping season.
He was talking to Executive Development Officers Agriculture from every district of the province at Circuit House here late on Thursday night. He advised them to maintain close liaison with growers to bring more area under wheat crop to achieve the wheat production target of 2.478 million tons.
He directed the officers of Agriculture Extension to ensure that the quality certified seeds and other agriculture inputs is made available to growers. He also directed that a province -wide campaign should be launched to arrest the sale of substandard pesticides and fertiliser, maintain data of crop at union council level and transfer of technological knowledge to growers at their doorsteps.
The Director General Agriculture Extension Naeem Ahmed Kurijo informed the meeting that till date sowing had been completed on 217,788 hectares, and hoped that the target would be achieved within the schedule period. He said that all inputs including high quality certified seeds are available. He said so far 50 'grow more wheat' seminar have been organised including 35 at taluka level.
