Appointment of judges on merit demanded

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Malik Mohammad Qayyum has said bar members by electing him President of SCBA has rejected decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Benazir case.
While addressing a reception giving by a bar member Qayyum Tahir here on Thursday, he said bar members knew about the judges who took oath under PCO and validated the presidential referendum and LFO.
He said judiciary was disposing of maximum cases instead of providing justice to the aggrieved persons. He said such decisions come when the government did not appoint the judges on merit. He called upon the government to appoint judges in higher judiciary on merit.
While commenting over his decision in his capacity as Judge of LHC about Ms Benazir, Qayyum said he was ready to reply the criticism publicly. He, however, announced to get resolved problems of the bar members through government instead of opting confrontation.
