Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a meeting with Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams here on Friday has applauded the role of Christian community in the development of the country.
The CM said Christian community, like Muslim and other communities, enjoyed equal rights in the country. Bishop of Lahore Alexander John Malik was present on the occasion. The Chief Minister told that severe action was taken against persons involved in ugly incident of disgrace of sacred places of the Community in Sangla Hill.
The CM said President Pervez Musharraf had taken historic steps for uplift of communities in Punjab. He apprised the Archbishop of development in the province and steps taken by the provincial government for relief of tremor affected persons.
