Karachi under dacoits' control

27 Nov, 2005

In spite of the claims by the government to control crime, it is on increase, especially the robberies at homes, snatching of cars, and bikes.
On November 12, 2005 at around 8 o'clock in the morning, four armed dacoits made my driver hostage and entered my house located at the busy Rashid Turabi Road, block "N" North Nazimabad. They took away cash, jewellery, mobile phones, watches, and other valuables.
The "so-called" Madadgaar "15" was informed within 5 minutes of the incident that is on 8.25 but the person on reporting centre, surprisingly, could not understand Urdu or English properly.
After making two calls and properly reporting the address the first police officer came at around 10 o'clock. Then F.I.R. was registered at Taimuria police station and they are investigating the case.
We all blame police for negligence, yes there are some black sheep in the force but there are dutiful officers as well, who even cannot perform properly due to non-availability of resources. At Taimuria police station they have two mobiles and both were damaged and out of order on that day as reported by police the staff.
In my opinion the members of national and provincial assemblies, the ministers and the Chief minister are directly responsible for not taking care of the lives and properties of the taxpayers as most of the time their privilege remain at stake, how they make legislation to control crime or implement it, is questionable.
All active police squads and commandos are on VIP duties with a number of mobiles and staff on roads and their residences we pay huge taxes for their security and they are our masters. People have lost hope and they believe it is useless to register F.I.R. Who is going to save the citizens of this unfortunate city?
