More programmes for special children soon

29 Nov, 2005

More awareness programmes are being planned for special children in the provincial capital to provide grater opportunities to them to interact with each other and to demonstrate their artistic skills and talent.
An indication to this effect was given by prominent artist and social worker Jimmy Engineer while talking to media before returning to Karachi after 10 days long goodwill tour of Lahore. He said that such programmes would give hope for life and somewhat brighter future to physically handicapped, mentally retarded, deaf, dumb and blind children.
Jimmy said that he has been duly encouraged by the outcome and impact of the first of its kind awareness programme for the special children hosted by him at a Lahore hotel last week. He said not only the heads and teachers of special education institutions from public and private sectors but also the participating special children asked him in so many words to organise more such awareness programmes in the coming months and not to leave them alone after raising some expectations and hopes among them.
