US Stocks: Thursday's unofficial close

02 Dec, 2005

US stocks rallied on Thursday after a key US economic measure signalled inflation may be under control and gave investors some hope that the Federal Reserve may stop raising interest rates.
Investors scooped up blue chip industrial stocks like Boeing Co, 3M Co and McDonald's Corp on the better outlook for the economy and interest rates.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 110 points, or 1.02 percent, at 10,916.01. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 14.42 points, or 1.15 percent, at 1,263.90. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 33.02 points, or 1.48 percent, at 2,265.84.
